New York Art Life is committed to showcasing brilliant artists that are
making big changes in their field, influencing people all over the world
with their skill and passion. This time, we are speaking with Sakshi
Chopra; celebrity, singer, and influencer. Sakshi Chopra is the daughter
of film and television producer Meenakshi Sagar, and great
granddaughter of Dr. Ramanand Sagar Chopra, who was a film and
television director. Sakshi Chopra has earned the support of many
people all over the world. She began sharing covers of songs on her
YouTube channel, where many people found her. She is now verified
on Instagram with almost 600,000 followers.

NY Art Life: Thank you for sitting down with us and telling us about yourself. It
is always fascinating to speak to artists and creatives who have had such a grand
impact on many people. What was the source of your inspiration for singing?

Sakshi Chopra: Thank you so much for having me! I’m always asked about what
made me want to sing and share it with the world. I have to say, the love for art
and music runs in the Sagar family. By singing and sharing my artistry with the
world, I am carrying on the Sagar legacy. With over 30,000 followers on Youtube,
I love sharing my new music with my fans!

NY Art Life: That is beautiful. Can you tell us how you grew your community of
supporters, or if I may call them, your “Cuties?”

Sakshi Chopra: That’s right! I call my supporters and followers my cuties. I began
sharing my covers on YouTube and that’s how many people found me. I
continued sharing my work and progress on social media, and even had a meet
and greet with my fans when I hit 100,000 followers on Instagram. I was able to
connect with many people. I think it is one of the best feelings when you share
a love for art or music with so many people. Even more so when you’re able to
do what you love and there are people who appreciate it greatly. I have also
performed at different places: Aqaba, Little Door, Khar Social, and also the
famous Hard Rock Café. I remember that the event at Hard Rock Café was
covered by Hindustan Times. They wrote an article about it, it was a very
memorable event.

NY Art Life: We’ve learned that you’ve been cast as a lead role in the 2021 Netflix
Series “Social Currency,” can you tell us more about it?

Sakshi Chopra: Yes, it is a very exciting project. “Social Currency” is an Indian
series about famous public figures [like myself] who have to survive without
internet for 21 days. It is very challenging, especially for people like me who have
such a strong presence online. I think it is a very intriguing series for people
since we’ve all adapted to the online life since the pandemic. I’m very proud of
this project and happy to be able to share it with others. It was one of those
projects that changed my perspective on life and the true meaning of art without
internet involved.

NY Art Life: Wow, that is applaudable. Very impressive and exciting to hear
about this! Are there any other projects you’re working on?

Sakshi Chopra: I’m developing my album and I believe it is a very useful asset
for artists as they can share their work with the rest of the world
instantaneously. It’s very important to be present in the moment and also to be
open to new opportunities that display themselves in the process of working
and practicing. Lately, I’ve been promoting brands and modeling as I also have
a passion for style and fashion. I truly believe that a person’s stylistic choices
reflect who they are. I’ve been able to connect to many fantastic brands and
designers who are having an impact on the fashion industry. In May 2021, I shot
my first assignment in Los Angeles for the major brand Balmain through New
York Fashion Week. There will be more exciting things coming soon, and I will
be sharing them on social media platforms once they’re announced.

NY Art Life: That must be so exciting, bravo! Is there any advice you’d give to
artists who look up to you and share your love for music and art?

Sakshi Chopra: It is our own duty to support ourselves. If others support us too,
then that means we have been able to share our art with the world, and that is
the most beautiful thing.
